Another 50 years might see more stars on the flag, what with North Colorado, North California, East Washington (likely just called Washington with west of the Cascades called Cascadia), and similar new states joining the Union in the manner of West Virginia. What is the reverse of secession, when one part of a state gets thrown out by another part rather than leaves? The voting pattern by county maps recently out might lead to large parts of a state simply seceding from or tossing out other parts. It might get interesting.
