I read an interview with Bill Gaines in I think it was Plaboy Magazine. Gaines was fond of playing games wit the members of the staff at Mad.
He once emptied all the water coolers in the office and replaced the water in the bottles with white wine. He then sat back and watched the staff get shit-faced.
One year, the company vacation was to Haiti. One member of the staff found out there was a single subscriber on the island, and that he subscription was about to expire. The guy waited until everybody was falling down drunk and they wound up pounding on the guys door in the middle of the night asking the reader to renew his subscription.
You want to talk about a great workplace environment!
