Snooze You Lose--Unless You're A NYC Union Boss
I'd heard mention of this the other day, but didn't read it till I saw it at Cold Fury this am. It's hilarious...
Meet 5'7" 400-pound Mark Rosenthal, president of New York City's largest municipal workers union.
According to the board members who tipped off the NY Post to sleeping beauty, this is how he spends the bulk of his strenuous days.
"He eats lunch when he arrives at 2 p.m. Then, like clockwork, he goes to sleep with a cup of soda on the table and the straw in it," said Marvin Robbins, a union vice president. "Then he wakes up, looks at his watch and says, 'I have to get out before the traffic gets bad.' He's usually out by 4 p.m. after being at the office two hours."
He says he puts in 12- to 14-hour days. Must be one of those REM time-dilation things...
For this he is paid $156,000 a year, but he still finds time to scarf down $1,400 worth of food--at the union's expense--every month. That's dedication. The money quote:
He said it's normal for executives to take "power naps."
Bravo to the Post for sending the photographer on at least two different occasions to catch this guy's act. Read the whole thing--the part about him sicking the union's own lawyer on his political opponents is priceless.

A Housewarming Gift For Wirecutter
Kenny's new FullyOperationalBattleStation© has part of a blogroll now, so you can go over, play Walmart Bingo, and still find your way back. But it is a new place, so you should probably bring some beer, or bacon, or...
And I threw in some underboob too, because #caring.

More Awesome It Does Not Get: Christopher Lee Does Heavy Metal
"I'm not screaming or anything like that, but it is definitely heavy metal" -- Christopher Lee
That quote is going in the sidebar. Read about the 91-year-old's first metal album here.
Corsetation Remuneration
Irish was kind enough to forward some corsetation he thought would find a warm home here. Some of his are...sprinkled...below:
