Freezing in the dark
That cat has smelled things - terrible, terrible things.
I've occasionally gotten that exact same open-mouthed "Holy S***!!" look from a cat after it sniffed my long-unwashed (and still warm) tennis shoes.And probably for the same reason...
What has been smelled cannot be unsmelled.
