The Kid From Texas Doers It Again

Congrats to the youngest player to win the US Open since Bobby Jones in 1923. Jordan Speith now joins only three other players to have won the first two majors in a calendar year--their names are Hogan, Nicklaus and Woods. Pretty Good Company.

Cast your vote in the comments and, if you can, answer me this...what's the brush for?

Congrats Lefty, On Your 1st British Open

Shot 5-under 66 in the last round at Muirfield. After winning at Aberdeen the week before. Birdied the last two holes in spectacular fashion--after making an amazing par at 16--to put it out of reach. Think he likes my ancestral homeland now?

Congrats To 19-Year-Old Texan Jordan Speith

First teenager to win on the PGA Tour since Ralph Guldahl in 1931.
Now he gets to board the chartered plane with one of the guys he beat in a 5-hole playoff and play in the British Open. Tune into Sportscenter tonight to see the shot he hit just to make the playoff...and the one he hit from the weeds, between two trees, to ice it.
And now that he's won, all the Fedex Playoff points he's earned in the last three months actually count. He went from nothing to 11th place.
Not bad, kid.

Incidental Curiosity of the day: Speith won in a playoff...Phil Mickleson won in a playoff in Scotland...There is also a playoff in progress at the Web.com Tour stop.  The kid who shot a 59 isn't in it.
