It Wasn't Man That Altered Briffa's Tree-Ring Accuracy, It Was Mann's Hockey Team

I never noticed this, but once Steve Goddard pointed it out, it was obvious. In his 1997 paper, Keith Briffa said he didn't understand why his tree-ring reconstructions, which had previously tracked well with temperature, diverged suddenly around 1960.
 

He ascribed the changed to some as yet unknown anthropogenic influence. He was right. There was indeed a man-made influence: James Hansen et al at NASA and NOAA. If Briffa had used the National Academy of Sciences data from 1975, before Hansen...

 He could have done this...

And made a much better case for the soundness of his work. But he used data from the Hockey Team, which was busy "hiding the decline" to make themselves the gods of every-year-is-the-hottest-ever science policy, altereing the data, cooling the past and warming the present...

The other irony is that the non-existent divergence is what prompted "Mike's Nature Trick." But then Keith had his own trick--just delete adverse data...

So, fuck 'em all. As Goddard said, they have destroyed an entire science.

ICYMI--Michael Mann To Be Climate Cornholed With His Hockey Stick

As if it weren't bad enough that Steve McIntyre has taken apart his formal pleading in his "defamation" case against Mark Steyn and found it filled with lies about how his work was scientifically exonerated by a host of unimpeachable sources, Mann has a much larger problem--and it's all his doing.
You see, before he was stupid enough to sue Steyn, Mann sued Dr. Timothy Ball...in Canada where he hoped the Orwellian speech police tribunal (which Steyn dismantled in another lawsuit) would find that Ball's comments on Mann faking his Hockey Stick data were libelous.
Operating on the premise that the truth is a defense against libel, and with clarity of thought foreign to most American legislators, the Canadian court ordered Mann to produce his metadata--you know, the same metadata he and UVA spent millions to keep hidden from Ken Cuccinelli--Mann refused, repeatedly.
Last week, the court ruled him in default--meaning Ball wins. It also means Ball can call him a lying, junk-science charlatan because he has the backing of a court ruling.
Oh yeah, one more thing--it means Ball can counter sue for damages. He hasn't yet, but Steyn has--for $10 million. Mwuhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Well, Ball would get the first bite--his suit is older--and not just at Mann, but also at his flu$h backer$, including David $uzuki. Bwuhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
It doesn't get much better than that.
