I would find this funny, but for the fact that Prof. Lennart Bengtsson was forced to resign from the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology due to his stance against global warming alarmism.
It's an inaccurate comparison: the Heaven's Gate people only killed themselves, whereas the AGW cultists will kill millions. But most of the dead will be brown people in countries the cultists can't pronounce, so I guess they don't count (does that make them teh rayciss?).
Millions, Eric? I think you're an optimist. But I also think that the most likely place for a nucleus of human specimens (as Dr. Strangelove put it) to survive would be the homeland of man, tropical Africa. There will be starvation everywhere if the AGW bunch get their way, but at least in the tropics people aren't likely to freeze.

Sad day indeed.
P.J. O'Rourke once said that the problem with communism
is that it politicizes everything! Science is not science if
it comes with a political agenda.
I think Nichelle Nichols brother was among the dead at
Heavens Gate. Probably said My sister got to go into space, I
want to go too!

Right on Eric. I have this quote seared into my memory:
"It's as good a way to get rid of them as any."
Charles Wursta, Chief environmental scientist for the
Environmental Defense Fund.
This was in answer to a question about banning DDT
in 3rd world countries, and the "Them" he was
referring to was little brown people.
Just found out from anthony Watts Blog that the new
Godzilla movie is as infected with global warming as
as a 2 dollar hooker with clap!
Leonard, no it wasn't. It was 2 hours of pure fucking awesome!
