Jimi playing backup for Wilson. A year later--after moving to London because the record industry here wouldn't give him the time of day--he released...
There were two people on my left hand guitarist list; One is Hendrix, and other was Dick Dale. I had a buddy who dated a woman who took her dying little brother to a Dick Dale concert back when she was a teenager. She did everything she could to arrange a face to face meeting with the kids idol.
The piece of shit put the moves on her! I now have one left hand guitarist on my list!
Hendrix, dead in 1970. About the same time we also lost Janis. Sad times. 'Was on the USS Princeton LPH-5 in '69, got to go down to the South Pacific in May to pick up the Apollo X ("ten", for those that can't read Roman Numerals) and on the way, we passed thru Hawaii and heard that Hendrix was going to play there in Waikiki on our way back!!!!! 'Bought up front tickets and was glad I did!! 'Only time I got to see him "live!!" 'Don't want to do the math now on how many years ago that was, I'll get scared!! BSBD, III%, skybill-out
skybill--My brother was at the U. of Hawaii in '68 and '69. HE saw Jimi at one show where he told everyone he was going to he park afterward. And damned if he didn't. There he was, playing an acoustic. So my brother, the fucker, got to jam with Jimi.
It sure does JC! Even though I am not a big fan of CW music, Chet Atkins was one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived. My mother was a huge fan of classic CW, so I heard them all. I see the current crop of CW artists as little better than rap musicians. Maybe my mother's taste in music was not so bad after all!
LEonard--You should get a copy of "Reflections" by Chet Atkins and Doc Watson. There's also "Chester and LEster" and "Guitar Monsters" both with Les Paul. ANother good one is "Neck and Neck" with Mark Knophler. Chet rules.

The industry ignoring Hendrix can surely only be matched by Decca not signing the Beatles.

Leonardrjones - George Harrison signed his autograph left-handed, and so did Chet Atkins. Does that make you feel any better?
And yeah, Dick Dale is a bit of a prick.
